Chances of Arsenal
Arsenal are the defending Premier League champions after finally winning the title last season. It was Mikel Arteta’s first league title since taking charge of the club in December 2019. After spending several seasons battling Manchester City and Liverpool, Arsenal finally got over the line.
The challenge now is to prove it wasn’t a one-off. Winning back-to-back Premier League titles is never easy, but Arsenal have a settled squad, an experienced manager, and the confidence that comes with being champions. They will once again be one of the favourites.
Chances of Manchester City
Manchester City begin a new era after Pep Guardiola left the club at the end of last season. His former assistant, Enzo Maresca, has taken over as manager and faces a huge challenge.
City are also going through a transition. Experienced players such as Bernardo Silva, John Stones, and Nathan Aké have already left, while Rodri has been strongly linked with a move to Real Madrid, although nothing has been confirmed.
Winning the Premier League in Maresca’s first season would be a big achievement. A more realistic target may be securing a top-four finish and keeping City competitive while the new manager builds his team.
Chances of Manchester United
Manchester United have shown signs of improvement under Michael Carrick, who took over during last season after Ruben Amorim was dismissed. Carrick guided the club into the Champions League places and has brought some stability back to Old Trafford.
The club has backed him in the transfer market with signings such as Youri Tielemans from Aston Villa and Andrey Santos from Chelsea. United have also been linked with players like Manu Koné and Aurélien Tchouaméni.
If the new signings settle quickly and Carrick continues to improve the team, Manchester United could become genuine title challengers as they look to win their first league title since the 2012–13 season.
Chances of Chelsea
Chelsea have appointed Xabi Alonso as their new manager after his short and disappointing spell at Real Madrid. Although he was sacked after only seven months, Alonso previously showed his quality by leading Bayer Leverkusen to a historic Bundesliga title ahead of Bayern Munich.
He has already proved he can build a winning team. If he gets enough time and support at Chelsea, they could become serious contenders for the Premier League title this season.
Chances of Liverpool
Liverpool have started another new chapter by appointing Andoni Iraola as manager following the departure of Arne Slot. Iraola impressed at Bournemouth, leading the club to a Europa League place and earning praise for the team’s attacking style of football.
However, managing Liverpool is a very different challenge. At Bournemouth, success meant competing for European qualification. At Liverpool, expectations are much higher. The manager is expected to compete for every major trophy, including the Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup, and Carabao Cup.
Iraola is a talented coach, but this will be the biggest test of his career. Whether he can handle the pressure at one of England’s biggest clubs remains to be seen.
